Over the last few months, Ashley , and I have been working hard behind the scenes on the next chapter of The Giles Trust. After almost 11 incredible years operating under the hospital charity umbrella, we have taken the decision to establish our own independent charity – The Giles Trust Brain Tumour Foundation.
This is a significant moment for us, and one that fills us with both pride and excitement.
When we started this journey, we simply wanted to make a difference for brain tumour patients and their families. Looking back, we are incredibly proud of what has been achieved together. Thanks to your generosity, support and friendship, we have been able to fund and support:
• Six Surgical Loupes
• Mixed Reality Headsets
• Stine’s Home from Home
• A Surgical Navigation System
• A Physician Associate Post
• Investment in Artificial Intelligence technology
• CyberKnife brain tumour research trials
• The first Clinical Research Nurse post at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham
• The Nexstim Brain Scanner
• Special wishes and support for brain tumour patients and their families
None of this would have been possible without you.
Whether you have donated, sponsored an event, attended a fundraiser, volunteered your time or simply supported us from afar, you have helped change lives. Stine and I are enormously grateful for every single contribution, and we want to say a heartfelt thank you.
As we begin this new chapter, our mission remains as clear as ever. We will continue to:
• Support the outstanding clinical teams caring for brain tumour patients
• Fundraise for Stine’s Home from Home
• Support brain tumour patients and their families when they need it most
• Invest in vital research through collaboration with Brain Tumour Research and other partners
We are also delighted to be joined by an outstanding group of trustees and committee members, together with our Social Media Manager, Kate Shropshall. Their passion, energy and commitment give us great confidence that we can build on everything we have achieved so far and make an even greater impact in the years ahead.
We hope you will continue this journey with us. Together, we have already achieved so much, but there is still so much more we can do.
